Samantha Fields, ‘The Far Corners’, 2014, Bruno David Gallery & Bruno David Projects

"Los Angeles Painting: Formalism to Street Art" Bruno David Gallery, St. Louis, MO. September 2 - October 7, 2017

About Samantha Fields

Samantha Fields’ mid-sized landscape paintings depict dramatic weather systems, in which exaggerated use of light and shadow creates psychologically charged—even apocalyptic—visions. Worked primarily in acrylic on canvas or panel, Fields’ images are drawn from photographs taken while chasing storm cells across the U.S.—an experience she describes as essential to her work. She also uses a method adapted from a Japanese airbrushing technique to produce surfaces devoid of texture that resemble the matte finish of photography.
