As its name suggests, “The Birth Gold” lamp is inspired by a moment of conception, specifically the moment when the sperm fertilizes an egg. The chandelier is inspired by the delicate electrical current emitted at the moment of fertilization. Its bold, pendant design alludes to the suspension of that moment, and points towards a place of hope, underscores a deeper message embedded in miracle of life.

In midst of a historical moment dominated by reports of loss of life and suffering caused by racism and terrorism, and also when artificial life seems increasingly within reach, Itasaka calls attention to the changing value of life. “It is time to re-think life.”
