Sebastian Blanck, ‘Muckrakers’, 2016, Dubner Moderne

About Sebastian Blanck

Sebastian Blanck, like the Impressionists before him, is compelled by quiet, quotidian moments. Formally composed, his portraits depict friends, fellow musicians, and his own children. Blanck’s trademark vibrancy is achieved via a multi-step technique: first collaging layers of painted paper over watercolor, and then transposing it once more onto stretched canvas. The resulting work displays a striking sense of familiarity and intimacy.
