Bold, contemporary steel welded abstract construction is painted with a vibrant red finish, which catches and reflects the light. The artist has been developing the Entangled Series for many years, first in wood, then in small steel works and now in the larger series. This work is suitable for either indoor or outdoor exhibition.
Since he began his artistic career in the mid 1980’s, Dark has participated in exhibitions throughout Ontario and Quebec, and in the United States, notably at the Albright-Knox Gallery in Buffalo, New York and the Canadian Embassy in Washington, DC. His work has been selected for major embassies, corporate headquarters, and public venues around the world. He has won numerous grants and awards, and has completed a number of major public commissions. Two new commissions will be installed in 2016 in San Francisco and in Toronto.
A documentary on Dark’s life and work, entitled “Artist in the Round: Shayne Dark”, premiered on the Discovery Channel HD Theatre on April 25, 2004 across the United States. In 2016 he is the Artist in Residence at the Brooklyn Botanical Garden in New York.
