ShinYeon Moon (Shin)
ShinYeon Moon (Shin) is an illustrator based in New York, who recently received her MFA from the School of Visual Arts. Her characters and worlds are born in the space where two ideas meet, miscommunicate, mix, and destabilize each other, then congeal to form a new imaginary world. Moon is interested in the boundaries found between individuals and cultures, the fragile balance between man and nature, and the equilibrium of life and death. Illustrating the midpoint where these binaries meet, Moon’s worlds are both fantasy and reality, a space filled with infinite possibilities including profound beauty and truth, as well as terrifying realizations and doubts. Moon’s most recent solo exhibitions include those at the Sevenminusseven Gallery in St. Thomas, USVI and Studio Kura Gallery in Fukuoka, Japan.
