Shozo Michikawa was born in 1953 in Hokkaido, Japan. He lives and works in Seto.He graduated from Aoyama Gakuin University in 1975, wherehe completed his studies in economics. A few years later heabandoned the economic world and began to devote himself tohis passion for ceramics, becoming, over the years, one of themost recognised Japanese ceramists on a global scale.
In his artistic production, he starts from everyday forms such as bowls, vases andjars. These, with a clever use of the potter’s wheel, dynamicallytake shape in the air, thanks to their spiral structure and the sharpgeometric lines that mark their surface.
