Makers’ Mark: The 2014 MAD Biennial Opens its Doors to New York’s Top Creatives
24 boxes made of cashmere swatches in various tones of green, grey and black.
I was obsessed with cashmere for many years. Four enormous boxes of swatches were donated to us and I reached into one of them and felt the most beautiful cashmere in the world. I made that box my priority and William and I created small boxes covered in these precious swatches as our self portraits.
William: "Remember how we made self-portraits when we had pottery class together?"
Steven: "That was Princess Leia, not a self-portrait."
Steven & William: (laughing)
