14 Artists You’ll Be Talking about Long after the Venice Biennale
“Cianciolo has always been a unique link between the worlds of art and fashion.”
— Colleen Kelsey, Interview Magazine
Susan Cianciolo began working in between art and fashion in New York in the 1990s, when she first debuted her label RUN at Andrea Rosen Gallery. Since then she has subverted normative expectations of the fashion world by working in multiple formats such as design, film, publishing and performance, always collaboratively and generously open to her audience. Cianciolo’s Three Nudes in Heels is either a potential sketch for a design or choreography for a performance. Characteristically, it is blurring lines and disciplines in pertinent ways.
Her work has recently been featured in the Whitney Biennial (2017); the 9th Berlin Biennale for Contemporary Art (2016); and PS1’s Greater New York (2015). Her solo exhibition at Bridget Donahue, New York, is currently on view.
