Strips of earthenware paper clay are looped, wrapped and sculpted as the title suggests as an aggregate of separate pieces into a composite whole. The work is glazed, fired and re-fired resulting surfaces rich with a craquelure finish highlighted in bright yellow, indigo, orange, black and white.

Toronto based artist Susan Collett, RCA, studied printmaking and ceramics at the Cleveland Institute of Art. She works with ceramics, print and copper to create a variety of different pieces that are influenced by one another. She is the winner of the Winifred Shantz Award and is a member of the IAC (International Academy of Ceramics). While exhibiting throughout North America Collett has also participated in several residencies: the Sanbao Art Institute in Jingdezhen, China, 2003, and Fuping, China, 2007. Her work can be found in numerous private, corporate and public collections, including the Bata Shoe Museum, the Canadian Clay & Glass Gallery, the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, Yinnge Museum in Taiwan, Sevres Porcelain Museum, Paris, the Crown Collection at Rideau Hall, Ottawa and the Gardiner Museum of Ceramic Art in Toronto.
