Susan Rankaitis makes ephemeral site-specific installations that reference science. In 2005 she created an installation called Limbicwork in Vilnius, Lithuania, for which she weaved brightly colored plastic tubes in tree branches. Documented with large-scale digital images, the installation represented the limbic system and explored the development of memories and the emotional connections we make with the landscape. In a recent series of works that includes Interroception #8 (2008), Rainkaitis attempts to imagine a “mind’s eye” view of the world with various washes on photographic paper.
