About Suzanne Tick

After a successful career in commercial design, most notably as creative director for Knoll Textiles, Suzanne Tick began exploring the more experimental side of weaving. She became interested in reclaimed materials during childhood summers working at a recycling plant, and today she finds inspiration in readily available discarded objects, like the wire hangers, plastic bags, and cardboard tubes that come with dry cleaning. Combined by the thousands, she transforms the materials into wall hangings that are at once delicate and strong, blending organic and industrial materials like fiber-optic yarn. Yet weaving remains at the core of her work: “Weaving holds everything together, materials and life, successes and failures.”
