Louis-Seize uses rare earth elements, selenium, liquid metal, tar and resin to create these mythical landscapes. The work is sealed with resin, creating a glossy finish.
Louis-Seize’s paintings are fresh, lush explorations about our idealization of nature. They raise questions about nostalgic representations of landscape and our increasing distance from the natural world. His unique and moody landscapes are created using interesting combinations of materials (liquid metal, tar, acid, acrylic paint and resin). Louis-Seize has done large scale commissioned work in Toronto and New York and is in private and corporate collections in the United Kingdom, the US, Canada and Europe. Self-taught and Montréal born, he now lives and works in Calgary, Alberta.
