The painting was executed on the right bank of the Seine, River. A sketch book

Signature: Signed and dated on verso: Cathedral. Vernon-Seine/ August 10. 1888/ Th. Robinson Will be included in a forthcoming CR by Sonia Johnston.

This painting was executed on the right bank of the Seine River. A sketch book by
Theodore Robinson confirms the precision in which Theodore Robinson was working.
The two houses in the foreground have been destroyed during the second war. The
collegial of Vernon is very well painted by Robinson and closer to reality than a similar
painting with a different angle done by Claude Monet. This is a very early piece. Claude
Monet moved to Giverny in 1883.
