Thomas Broadbent is a Brooklyn-based artist who works in realist painting and watercolor, as well as large-scale conceptual public installations. Broadbent was the recipient of the prestigious 2016 New York PULSE Prize for his presentation of delicately rendered watercolors of meteors, astronauts, and planets. His closely framed images based on NASA photographs bring celestial objects into an intimate viewing space, touching on ideas of scale, distance, and exploration on a human scale. Broadbent’s work has been shown internationally at galleries in New York, Washington D.C., Basel, Vienna, Toronto, Rotterdam, Ghent, Beijing, and Istanbul, among others.
