About Thomas Kiesewetter

Thomas Kiesewetter makes metal sculptures that recall tabletop Cubist assemblages and Constructivist abstraction. Fusing the organic with the industrial, Kiesewetter’s work has an off-kilter, handmade quality that belies his careful fabrication process. He creates small, individual, geometric components, which he then combines intuitively to create the larger, spontaneous pieces. “At the beginning, I don’t really start with the idea of building a sculpture. I basically just imagine individual parts,” Kiesewetter explains. “It’s about capturing the moment when the individual parts come together.”
