TJ Volonis
Kinstugi Study #35, 2016

Interested in patterns and experimentation, Brooklyn-based artist TJ Volonis produces abstract, geometric sculptures that “focus on the dependent relationship between the whole and the segment, and the fragile balance between order and disorder,” as he describes it. He was selected by Curate NYC as a top emerging artist in 2013 and worked on a commission for the Far Rockaway Redevelopment Fund. Volonis’ material of choice is copper, which he alchemizes into beautiful patterned arrangements, as well as furniture, raising fundamental questions about matter and space.
