About Tomio Seike
Until recently, Japanese photographer Tomio Seike primarily produced black-and-white photographs of sensuous nudes and waterscapes characterized by rich tonalities and plays of light. In recent years, however, he has begun shooting in color and with a digital camera, capturing subjects such as the beach in Brighton, U.K., in images that resemble watercolors. Shot from a window, these photographs depict tiny human figures walking along the beach silhouetted against an expansive sea, with the sky obscured so that the sea becomes the horizon line.
