Tommy White, ‘Bed’, 2014, C24 Gallery

About Tommy White

Tommy White is interested in the fleshy physicality of the body. His aggressively worked, large-scale paintings depict vague, distorted figures that embody sexual energy, love, and longing. White also makes sculptural objects, which originally served as models for the figures in his paintings but have since become integral to his exhibition installations. Diminutive and constructed of diverse materials such as plaster, bronze, paint, and fabric scraps, the objects seem to unlock the enigmatic imagery that White presents in his paintings.
