Tris Vonna-Michell’s spoken-word performances and multimedia installations, assembled from audio recordings, slide projections, and related artifacts, probe the operations of storytelling and memory. Vonna-Mitchell’s studio recordings, aural performances, or abstract speech compositions (which he refers to as "audio poems") are spellbinding experiences of rapid-fire words. His installations also include objects and projected images, but his words—whether heard on overhead speakers, headphones, or in small live audiences—combine fact and fiction, disrupting systems of logic.
