Alvan Fisher was a student in Boston, MA and is known as one of the first artists to paint race horses. His records show that he has sold nearly 1,000 paintings during 1826 and 1863. His work also shows a prelude to the Hudson River school style of paintings, often depicting detailed nature scenes with obscure human figures somewhere in the scene. He is exhibited at the National Academy and the Pennsylvania Academy.
Signature: Inpaint at the lower edge precisely where a signature might be.
