“Turbulence” is a head-height freestanding steel sculpture composed of fabricated and found-objects. Sinuous curved and curling strands rise up from a ringed base, and surround a sphere as if it were the center of gravitational pull. As they rise above the sphere the strands careen away in organic forms. The sculpture is protected with a powdercoat finish color – a baked-on industrial coating designed to withstand indoor or outdoor conditions. “Turbulence” is fully three-dimensional and asymmetrical. Each of its perspectives conveys a different dynamic. It is somewhat lightweight, with significant movement potential in the individual strands if exposed to the wind. The narrow base is under the center-of-balance of the sculpture, but should be staked to the ground for stability if placed in windy conditions. This engaging piece is designed to be displayed on any solid ground in an open area viewable from multiple angles, and will serve as a dynamic focal point in an outdoor setting.
