Wang Guangle has gained critical praise for his process-based paintings, which simultaneously reference traditional memento mori, temporality, repetition and abstraction. His art is in many aspects concerned with localized discourses of Western art, including Realism, which persisted from the start of the twentieth century up till now, the avant-garde art that has existed for three decades since the eighties, and the folk art traditions that have spanned several millennia in China.

Wang Guangle (b. 1976, Fujian) graduated with a BA in Oil Painting at the China Central Academy of Fine Arts in 2000. He currently lives and works in Beijing. His paintings have been extensively shown worldwide in important biannials and triennials, including the California-Pacific Triennial (2013), Busan Biennale (2010) and the 4th Prague Biennale (2009). Museums that have shown his art include Rubell Family Collection and Contemporary Arts Foundation, Miami; White Rabbit Art Museum, Australia; Museum Ludwig, Germany; Minsheng Art Museum, Beijing; Long Museum, Shanghai; Museum of Modern Art, Shanghai; Museum of Central Academy of Fine Arts, Beijing; Fosun Foundation, Shanghai; Ullens Center for Contemporary Art, Beijing; Taikang Space, Beijing and so on.
