About Wang Sishun 王思顺

Wang Sishun is lately known for his conceptual mixed-media pieces, performances, and installations. Wang originally trained as a sculptor and iron welder for eight years, and spent some time in the studio of Cai Guo-Qiang; he has explained his departure as a decision to leave his sense of familiarity. Many of Wang’s iconic pieces use or transform ready-made and found objects, and sometimes come with instructions for the viewer. These works humorously address ideas of monetary and cultural value, altered perception, and fantastical situations. Wang also uses the content of his dreams as the source or subject of his pieces (and beds serve as a recurring motif).
