Wieslaw Borkowski, ‘Ran before the Storm’, 2015, E-Moderne Gallerie

Inspired by music, named after Roo Pane’s song - “Ran before the Strom” was the first coloring challenge in “Musical Calligraphy” series. Not only was it written with three different blue inks but also filled with many contrastive tones. Uniqueness to the creation adds the fact that the painting was created at night, during a storm. This lyrically powerful song remains to be one of my personal favorites, so is the painting.
Artworks from “Musical Calligraphy” collection are improvised translations of music into the artistic script. This "writing" is abstract and has a calligraphic form, resembling Chinese running script, thus the name "Musical Calligraphy." Unrestrained, rhythmic and emotional, each work is my interpretation of a particular piece.
