Part skyscape and part urbanscape, this city scene in blue and purple with a touch of red is created by one of the finest American contemporary realist painters, Willard Dixon. Dixon has painted California coastal landscapes for 35 years and his work captures the undeniable beauty of the West with its grand and humble spirit. The same sensitivity can be found in the artist's urban street scenes, as in this scene of an entrance to a San Francisco freeway, that offer viewers a resting place to contemplate our rapidly changing world.

Dixon’s work can be found in numerous distinctive private and public collections, as well as the Oakland Museum of California, The San Francisco Museum of Art, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.

The oil on canvas painting is 18 x 24 inches. It has an artist fabricated oak frame around it that is 19 x 25 inches. Signed by the artist in paint on front. Condition is excellent.
