William Sweetlove unites Dadaism with Surrealism and Pop Art in humorous sculptures that at first sight may seem “kitschy.” However, closer familiarity with his works reveals their role as a creative antidote to the overproduction and overconsumption of our society. With his cloned animals, Sweetlove calls for greater ecological awareness and urges us to reflect on the consequences of climate change. For example, his cloned dogs wear boots to prepare for the rise in sea level and his penguins carry water bottles to indicate that we are running out of drinking water. Sweetlove has participated in various art manifestations worldwide together with the Italian Cracking Art Group.
