A series of bronze cast toy figures spanning around gallery 5 and 6, they are heavily-armed,
and appear as hybrids of human and animal. These figures are from the LEGO series ‘Legends
of Chima’, where the figures are organised in fire and ice tribes, fighting for the natural resource
CHI, which gives them power. Here, conflicts similar to those that characterise our present day
are shown in a more whimsical way.
Swords and shields seem to be actual weapons in this menacing atmosphere. The classical
sculptural material bronze is contrasted by the highly technical production process, creating
the clash and convergence between modern technology and traditional crafts. Exhibited
together with the work Exhaust, gallery 5 and 6 create a choreographic scenery that brings the
visitors to relics of an unknown past.
