Zaven Paré, ‘Famille Tanaka 1’, 1990, Galerie Charlot

Zaven Paré is a research artist, pioneer of robotics in the visual arts. His abounding spirit leads him to design vulnerable, fragile and low-tech devices, grappling poetically with the idea of the breakdown. He thus imagines objects halfway between mechanical sculptures in pieces and installations of fragments of machines.
His production would seem to respond favorably to questions of technological animism, the idea that machines have a soul or are endowed with a life of their own.
