Zhu Lan, ‘ZL Untitled XV’, 2008, Oeno Gallery

Zhu Lan’s abstract paintings employ a delightful exchange of line, shape and texture. Lan’s work expresses the tonal play between black and white, using stark contrasts and variations of scale to explore gestural movement. Trained at the China People’s Liberation Army Academy of Art in Beijing, China, Lan holds an MFA from the City University of Art in Kyoto, Japan. Her work has been included in numerous exhibitions in North America, Europe and Asia, and can be found in both public and private collections in Hong Kong, UK and France. She has completed commissioned mural projects for restaurants, offices and museums.
