Aperture: Silent Benefit Auction 2023
The 2023 Aperture Gala will take place on Tuesday, October 3rd, at Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Appel Room. This year’s Aperture Gala honors the groundbreaking photographer, educator, and MacArthur Fellow Dawoud Bey. We are pleased to present live and silent auctions Powered by Artsy as part of this event.
The Aperture Gala is our annual celebration that brings together an ardent community of artists, philanthropists, writers, editors, curators, collectors, gallerists, and other leaders in the field. The Gala is Aperture’s most significant fundraising event of the year, and the proceeds support our award-winning publications, educational initiatives, exhibitions, and public programming.
Aperture is a nonprofit publisher that leads conversations around photography worldwide. From our base in New York, Aperture connects global audiences and supports artists through our acclaimed quarterly magazine, books, exhibitions, digital platforms, public programs, limited-edition prints, and awards. Established in 1952 to advance “creative thinking, significantly expressed in words and photographs,” Aperture champions photography’s vital role in nurturing curiosity and encouraging a more just, tolerant society.
Aperture’s live auction, courtesy of Phillips, includes works by Dawoud Bey, Kwame Brathwaite, Gordon Parks, Gregory Crewdson and Justine Kurland.
The Live auction will take place during the gala program at 8pm, October 3rd.
Our silent auction includes work by Jamel Shabazz, Joel Meyerowitz, Gail Albert Haliban, Garry Winogrand, An-My Le, Lillian Bassman, Shirin Neshat, Erwin Olaf, Vik Muniz, Robert Polidori and many more.
Bidding will be open exclusively on Artsy and will begin to close at 12pm on October 4th.
The countdown timer on the artwork pages will display the end time for the lot. Each lot closes in 1-minute increments and will be reset to 2 minutes if a bid is placed within the 2 minutes before the lot's scheduled closing time. For further information please see our FAQ.
