Artsy Spotlight Auction: Julie Mehrutu
The Art for Justice Fund, an initiative founded by Aggie Gund, invests in artists and policy advocates working to end mass incarceration in the United States and the racial bias that drives it. Our community seeks to imagine and build alternatives to our current system, one that promotes shared safety, keeps families together, and treats all people with dignity and compassion. To date, the Fund has awarded grants to 250 individuals and organizations totaling more than $92 million. Art for Justice is fiscally sponsored by Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors, which operates the Fund in partnership with the Ford Foundation. All proceeds from the sale of the painting will benefit Art for Justice. And because Ford Foundation covers the Fund’s administrative and staffing costs, every dollar will reach the artists, advocates and organizations who are transforming the criminal legal system.
