Printed Matter: Spring Benefit Auction 2022

Printed Matter + Artsy are thrilled to present Printed Matter's Spring Benefit Auction featuring more than 40 artworks from contemporary artists in support of the organization's work on behalf of artists' books and publishing.

The proceeds from this auction will provide vital support for Printed Matter, one of the world's leading nonprofit organizations dedicated to the distribution, understanding and appreciation of artists' books and related publications. Founded in 1976, Printed Matter represents over 12,000 titles by some 6,000 artists from across the globe, and provides a wide range of free programs and services to artists and the public, including events and exhibitions, Art Book Fairs, and a broad distribution platform through its two nonprofit bookstores and website printedmatter.org.

In the more than two years since the pandemic began, Printed Matter has been working in creative and expanded ways to continue its mission of bringing artists’ books to the broadest audiences possible through its programs and services, highlighting the ways that artists’ books can encourage conversation, inspire action, provide respite, and open up new worlds of possibility.

We are deeply grateful for the generous support of our participating artists and Benefit Committee.

In conjunction with our Spring Benefit Auction hosted by Artsy, we are very pleased to present a display of artworks at our Chelsea bookstore in NYC, including auction works listed here as well as additional works available for direct sale by Tauba Auerbach, N. Dash, Leslie Hewitt, Eddie Martinez, Jonathan Monk, Jill Mulleady, Trevor Paglen, and Taryn Simon. We encourage you to visit us at 231 11th Avenue to view these impressive works in person!
