Printed Matter: Spring Benefit Auction 2024

Printed Matter and Artsy are thrilled to present Printed Matter's Spring Benefit Auction. This year’s auction features nearly 60 artworks from an incredible array of contemporary artists in support of the organization's work on behalf of artists' books and the publishing community.

The proceeds from this auction will provide vital support for Printed Matter, one of the world's leading nonprofit organizations dedicated to the distribution, understanding, and appreciation of artists' books and related publications. Founded in 1976, Printed Matter represents over 14,000 titles by thousands of artists from across the globe, and provides a wide range of free programs and services to artists and the public. This includes frequent events and exhibitions, art book and zine fairs, and a broad distribution platform via its two nonprofit bookstores and website printedmatter.org.

From the NY and LA Art Book Fairs to our daily representation of and work with artists and bookmakers at Printed Matter’s homes in Chelsea and the East Village, Printed Matter provides a vital platform for artists who use books as the site of their art practice. Proceeds from the auction help us continue to provide independent artists and publishers with the resources to develop and present their work, making it accessible to the broadest possible audiences.

Bidding will be open exclusively on Artsy and will begin to close at 12pm EDT on Wednesday, June 12

All artworks ship from different locations, as noted on each artwork’s page. Shipping costs and all other applicable fees are the responsibility of the buyer. Please contact specialist@artsy.net for any inquiries.

Payment is accepted via checks or wire. Credit card payments are accepted up to $5,000.

The countdown timer on the artwork pages will display the end time for the lot. Each lot closes in 1-minute increments and will be reset to 2 minutes if a bid is placed within the 2 minutes before the lot's scheduled closing time. For further information please see our FAQ
