Trends to Watch in 2021: Colored Pencil Revival
“Colored Pencil Revival” is the third installment in a series of three features spotlighting the trends we’re watching in 2021. With the COVID-19 pandemic thwarting travel plans and limiting safe access to studio spaces, many artists have had to make due with more accessible materials lately. Towards the end of 2020, we noticed an increase in the number of new works made with the ever-versatile and transportable medium of colored pencil, even by artists who don’t typically produce drawings. From small-scale sketches to labor-intensive linework, discover a curated selection of recent drawings by artists reviving the medium of colored pencil.
