In its 17th edition, SP-Arte, the São Paulo International Art Festival, takes place from October 20th to 24th and will make its debut at ARCA, a 9,000 square meter industrial warehouse in São Paulo. One of the leading names in the promotion of Latin American art in a global setting, SP-Arte is a driving force in the insertion of Brazilian artists into the international art market and has set itself apart in recent years for featuring galleries and commercial projects dedicated to underrepresented artists. An exclusive preview to the Fair is available on Artsy from the 18th to the 31st of October, with highlights present at the show.
Following the main movements and innovations in the artistic scene, the Fair opens in a new, concise format in which in-person activities take place together with the SP-Arte Viewing Room. Over a hundred galleries dedicated to art and design, as well as specialized publishers, museums and projects will be present in this year's Fair. The in-person event hosts the exhibition "Art and technology: a revolution underway", curated by Ana Carolina Ralston, while various contemporary curators publish their selections of works on the website. Audio Guides created by specialists are available by remote access. The full immersive experience features a rich programming that will be both online and at ARCA with names such as Sandra Benites and Edgar Calel, discussing art in relation to sustainability, and panels centered on collecting artists from the African diaspora. A series of TED TALKS will discuss the impact and possibilities of digital innovation in the art market with coders, gallerists, artists and thinkers.
