ABOUT THE FAIR
Art Basel has been described as the ‘Olympics of the Art World’. Approximately 300 leading galleries from North America, Latin America, Europe, Asia, and Africa show the work of more than 4,000 artists, ranging from the great masters of Modern art to the latest generation of emerging stars.
The show's individual sectors represent every artistic medium: paintings, sculpture, installations, videos, multiples, prints, photography, and performance. Each day offers a full program of events, including symposiums, films, and artist talks. Further afield, exhibitions and events are offered by cultural institutions in Basel and the surrounding area, creating an exciting, region-wide art week.
Sectors
Galleries: the main sector of the show, it will feature 223 galleries presenting the highest quality of painting, sculpture, drawing, installation, photography, video and editioned works.
Edition: 15 galleries from 8 different countries, including Europe, Asia, US, it will be showcasing the results of their collaboration with renowned artists.
Feature: this sector presents galleries with precise curatorial projects, showing both historical and contemporary work. This year's edition will feature 30 galleries from 13 countries.
Statements: this sector offers visitors and collectors the opportunity to discover the work of emerging artists and young galleries. This year, eight of the 16 galleries exhibiting within Statements will be new to the show.
Unlimited: Art Basel's unique platform for projects that transcend the limitations of a traditional art fair stand, this sector will present 74 projects from galleries participating in the show, ranging from large-scale sculptures and paintings to video projections, installations and live performances.

*Admission is free for children up to 16, when accompanied by a parent. Tickets are valid for the Film sector and entitles the holder to reduced-price admission at Basel art museums during the show.
TALKS
Art Basel hosts a series of conversations and talks on a range of subjects, including the collection and exhibition of art, understanding art from a geographical and historical perspective, and timely topics concerning the contemporary art scene. Artists, gallerists, art historians, curators, museum directors, publishers, and collectors participate in panel discussions, book signings, and interviews. See all Talks and Conversations.
