ABOUT SYDNEY CONTEMPORARY
Housed at Carriageworks, Sydney Contemporary presents over 90 galleries from 13 countries, offering visitors access to cutting-edge art from some of the world’s most respected artists, as well as the opportunity to discover the next generation of emerging talent. Alongside the galleries are curated sectors for contemporary video, installation art and performance as well as a dynamic and talks and tours program presented by industry leaders.
Sydney Contemporary boasts five days of public programs, appealing to the experienced, the novice, the discerning art enthusiast and those simply curious about buying and living with art. Programming includes guided tours, educational workshops, kids activities, guest speakers and an extensive VIP Program.
Created by Tim Etchells, the co-founder of ART HK (now Art Basel in Hong Kong) and more recently the Hong Kong art fair Art Central, the event is the latest and most exciting addition to a line-up of increasingly influential fairs around the world. Having attracted over 28,000 collectors, industry professionals and the art-loving public to the inaugural edition in 2013, Sydney Contemporary 2015 is set to be one of the most celebrated events on Australia’s cultural calendar.
“Sydney Contemporary represents the first time this city has hosted a serious, high-end art fair. We expect it to play a significant role in helping to focus attention on the Sydney art scene in the same way that ART HK focused attention on Asian art,"
-Tim Etchells, Founder Art Fairs Australia and co-founder ART HK (now Art Basel in Hong Kong)
