About
Founded in 2009 in Harare, First Floor Gallery Harare is Zimbabwe’s leading contemporary art gallery, focused on artist empowerment, support for creative exchange and international collaboration.
Founded in Harare in 2009 by Marcus Gora and Valerie Kabov as an experimental artist-run initiative, First Floor Gallery Harare (FFGH), is Zimbabwe’s leading contemporary art gallery. Focused on artist empowerment and innovation, the gallery hosts residencies and exchanges, masterclasses, as well as supporting projects by creative professionals from fashion designers to poets, musicians and filmmakers. As advocate for the development of African contemporary art sectors, FFGH is the co-founder of the African Art Galleries Association and Emerging Painting Invitational, the pan-African emerging painting prize. To further its reach and engagement, in 2020 FFGH opened up its second gallery space in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe’s most diverse and fastest-growing city.
