About
Opened in 74, Galeria Luisa Strina brought the works of American pop artists (e.g. Jim Dine, Andy Warhol) to Brazil for the first time and introduced exponents of the new generation into the market, such as Leonilson, Cildo Meireles, Tunga, Antonio Dias and Waltercio Caldas.
Founded in 74, Galeria Luisa Strina has helped foster the careers of a new generation of conceptual artists from Brazil (Antonio Dias, Waltercio Caldas, Cildo Meireles, Tunga). In 92, the gallery was the first from Latin American to join Art Basel. Luisa Strina started to work with emerging Brazilian artists (Alexandre da Cunha, Fernanda Gomes, Marepe). Over the 00s, the artist roster was expanded to incorporate a group of Latin American artists (Carlos Garaicoa, Jorge Macchi, Juan Araujo, Pedro Reyes) and leading female contemporary artists (Laura Lima, Leonor Antunes, Renata Lucas). In the last decade, the gallery has consolidated its trajectory with the representation of influential names (Alfredo Jaar, Anna Maria Maiolino) as well as younger artists (Bruno Baptistelli, Panmela Castro).
