Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?

Over the past few weeks, every aspect of our lives have become about time. Timelines of showing symptoms of a coronavirus infection, timelines of how long self-isolation will be implemented, projected timelines of how long this pandemic will last. And while the news mentions the uncertain future within the limits of time, time now seems like an abstract concept that holds no real context within a quarantined home.

When did the days start feeling so long? Or are they actually short? How did we pass time before being instructed to shelter in place? There are also larger questions of timelessness such as “how long will life be like this?” and “What does the future hold?”

With such uncertainty, the seemingly endless hours of the pandemic can be lonely and scary. Anxiety is always about what might happen in the future; however, our ability to have an impact is in the present. We can focus on interrupting anxious thoughts about the future and staying in the present moment as much as possible.

And while we may have lost all sense of time, we should not lost all sense of hope. We are sacrificing certain aspects of our time so that other people get more time on their life. What could be a more rewarding ratio than what we have to do to what someone else receives?
