On the occasion of Edvard Munch's 150th anniversary, the Munch Museum and the National Museum of Art in Oslo have realized an extensive retrospective, serving as a salute to the artist's 60-year achievements in modern visual arts.

As the celebration is not only limited to Norway, institutions worldwide also dedicate events and exhibitions to the world-famous pioneer of Expressionism. The American-Scandinavian Foundation in New York showcases a posthumous dialogue between Edvard Munch and Andy Warhol in four series of lithographs, while Stuttgart's Staatsgalerie presents its entire collection of Munch’s graphics under the title From the First Kiss until Death, contributing to the year-round program of Munch150.

The official German catalog of the Anniversary Exhibition has just been published by Gestalten. With around 350 illustration pieces and 10 scientific essays, this 432-page comprehensive collection aims to bring new perspectives on Edvard Munch’s complex biography and his relationship to Modernism. Retracing his entire artistic development, the paintings, lithographs, and drawings displayed in the catalog cover Munch's artworks from the 1880s until his death in 1944.
