Casweck Galleries is located on historic Canyon Road in Santa Fe, NM and features the work of renowned Western artist and Illustrator Ernest Chiriacka. Chiriacka's work is renowned for his impressionistic technique, range of colors and his ability to depict dramatic moods.
Ernest Chiriacka (1913-2010). Ernest attended the Art Students League in New York, the National Academy of Design Art School, and the Grand School of Art in New York. He was a student of Harvey Dunn. Ernest began his professional career painting signs in his neighborhood and taking photos for driving licenses. He eventually became an illustrator for National Magazines.The Saturday Evening Post, Argosy and American Magazine were a few that carried his illustrations. In the 1950's, he began painting the coveted Esquire "Pin-Up" calendar girls, which continued five years. He was also commissioned to paint portraits of many film stars and create movie posters for major studios. In the mid 1960's, Ernest retired from his work as an illustrator and began to focus on his passion for painting.
