Located in the new cultural district, Refshaleøen, Copenhagen Contemporary (CC) shows large-scale installation art featuring world-renowned artists. Experience light, sound, motion, sculpture and performance in the old, iconic industrial halls.
Copenhagen Contemporary (CC) is an independent institution established in 2015 with the aim of creating an international center for contemporary art and cultural experiences in Copenhagen. With contemporary art a need has arisen for a new type of exhibition space that have room to show the bigger and more technically demanding art formats: large art installations of light, sound and motion, sculptural landscapes, performance and monumental video art on multiple screens. It is art that attracts large audiences at art institutions around the world, and which the current galleries and museums in Denmark can hardly accommodate. CC’s goal is to create such an up-to-date international centre for the great art of the 21st century in the Danish capital.
