About
Established in 1991 and located in Santa Monica, California, Craig Krull Gallery exhibits contemporary painters, sculptors, and photographers of the West Coast.
The gallery was established in 1991 as Turner/Krull Gallery in West Hollywood. The inaugural exhibit, “Photographing LA Architecture” demonstrated Krull’s interest in the cultural history of Southern California & marked the beginning of his representation of photographers such as Julius Shulman. Curatorial projects included,“Action/Performance of the Photograph,” an exhibit tracing the relationship between still photography and performance art. In 1994, Craig Krull Gallery became one of the founding galleries at the new Bergamot Station Art Center in Santa Monica. Sharing the poet Gary Snyder’s belief that, “our place is part of what we are,” the gallery appreciates work which embodies a connection between the artist and their environment or cultural milieu.
