About
David Nolan Gallery specializes in modern artworks by an array of international artists working in a variety of media. In Spring 2020, the gallery relocated to the Upper East Side in a historic townhouse and exhibits both historical and contemporary works.
Founded in 1987, David Nolan Gallery specializes in modern and contemporary art by international artists working in a variety of media. Its first shows featured now-canonical German artists (Sigmar Polke, Georg Baselitz, Martin Kippenberger, Dieter Roth, Gerhard Richter, Rosemarie Trockel, Albert Oehlen) as well as major American artists (William Copley, Carroll Dunham, Fred Sandback, Al Taylor, Barry Le Va). In the 1990s Richard Artschwager, Jim Nutt, Peter Saul, Mel Kendrick, Steve DiBenedetto and Ian Hamilton Finlay joined the gallery, which in the 2000s started working with the George Grosz Estate and Romenian artists Ciprian Mureşan and Şerban Savu. Julia Fish, David Hartt, Jonathan Meese, Wardell Milan and Jorinde Voigt joined the gallery in the 2010s; Dorothea Rockburne in 2020.
