Founded in 1977 in Paris, de Sarthe Gallery later established galleries in America, Hong Kong and Beijing. It represents a diverse spectrum of international artists, from important French Impressionists to modern and Post-War masters to a generation of emerging artists.
de Sarthe is a pioneering platform for boundary-pushing contemporary art from Asia. It has also contained an influential international presence in modern and post-war art since 1977. de Sarthe was founded in Paris (1977), later establishing galleries in America (1981) and most recently in Hong Kong (2010) and once occupied an 8,000 sq/ft space in Beijing’s renowned art district Caochangdi (2014-2018). In 2017, the gallery opened a 10,000 sq/ft space in Hong Kong’s southside art district, Wong Chuk Hang, to expand its program of contemporary art from Asia. With the launches of robust programs including open-studio residency deSAR, the gallery took an important role in supporting and exhibiting a wide range of artists that lead the emerging Asian art scene.
