About
HENKYO, meaning ‘frontier’ in Japanese, was established by Kohei Sakaguchi in 2021. As the name of the gallery suggests, HENKYO aims to be a place that traverses boundaries, striving towards a new frontier in art.
HENKYO opened in Tokyo to continue the work of Sakaguchi’s previous gallery NEW ALTERNATIVE, moving from Kagoshima to Tokyo in an effort to expand opportunities for it’s represented artists and embark on the next step of the gallery’s journey. The gallery has actively promoted its artists both in Japan and abroad and will continue to support their activities internationally, as well as work with talented local and global artists on future exhibitions.
