Located in the heart of Detroit, MI, Irwin House Global Art Center & Gallery serves as a hub for inner-city creatives, provides exposure and exhibition opportunities for emerging local artists, supports both local and visiting artists through its residency programs, and works to nurture, empower and satiate collectors of art.
The gallery opened its doors to the public in 2018, amidst a hard-fought building rehabilitation, and has provided continuous and robust arts programming since 2021. Its exhibitions most often explore critical cultural and historical subjects and give voice and a sense of place for social and minority concerns. An outgrowth of the vision of collectors Valerie Irwin and her late husband, Council B. Irwin, Jr., the art space is led and directed by Misha McGlown.
