Nel gallery is situated in the centre of Cape Town, South Africa. Nel showcases contemporary art from Africa and beyond, often focusing on Southern African work. The aim is to always be as inclusive as possible, acting as a mirror to society and the issues of the day yet keeping an unwavering eye to the realities of our past. We do so in order to facilitate giving a voice to those previously rendered mute by systems of oppression, regimes that undermine, heteronormative authority and the slow violence that stalks many to this day. We have a keen interest in the future we see emerging, one that is global and finding out our own voice within such an arena. Exposing artists to a wider horizon yet never losing their unique vision and authentic voices.
