The primary focus of the gallery is Abstract Expressionism paintings from the 1950s and 1960s, with a concentration on the Color Field School.
Yares Art was founded in Scottsdale, Arizona by Riva Yares in 1964. In 1991, Yares Art established a second gallery in Santa Fe, NM. In 2016, Dennis Yares expanded the galleries to New York, with 10,000 square feet of exhibition space at its 5th Avenue venue. In 2023, a third gallery opened on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills, CA. The primary focus of Yares Art is Color Field painting of the 1950s, '60s, and '70s. Yares Art represents the estates of Arman, Milton Avery, Thomas Downing, Friedel Dzubas, Jules Olitski, and exclusively represents Larry Poons. The exhibition calendar for 2024 includes Robert Motherwell, Adolph Gottlieb, and Frank Stella. Yares Art publishes exhibition catalogues and monographs annually.
